Insurance Coverage
My practice accepts various insurances that cover acupuncture; some of these also include benefits for massage, which is included in the scope of my license. Here is a partial list:
- American Specialty Health (ASH)
- Anthem Blue Cross
- Blue Shield PPO plans
- Blue Cross/Blue Shield for Federal Employees
- GreatWest Healthcare
- Kaiser Permanente
- Health Net
- MultiPlan/PHCS (school district and Palomar College/CSUSM employees)
- Nationwide
- OptumHealth
- Pacificare
- United Healthcare
Recently, more Medicare supplement plans have been starting to offer acupuncture benefits to their subscribers, making it possible for seniors to enjoy acupuncture at a low cost. Still other insurance companies, such as Aetna, Cigna, and Kaiser, offer discounts off time-of-service rates for acupuncture.
If you have a high-deductible plan or a Health Savings Account (HSA), I can also provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company or itemize for your tax statements.
Specific insurance benefits vary between insurers and insurance plans. If you think your insurance policy might include acupuncture benefits, please call me. I will give you instructions on how to provide the information that I need in order to research your coverage. I can usually obtain coverage details within one or two business days and will get back to you promptly with the results.
At present, insurance carriers do not cover Homeopathy or Pranic Healing. I can provide superbills for these types of sessions, however.
